KARACHI: An expatriate Pakistani youth was allegedly shot dead by robbers in Orangi Town early Thursday morning, police and rescue services officials said.

They said that 25-year-old Jibran Khan lived in Sector 1-D near Kala Maidan.

Orangi Town police said that the victim was sitting outside his home as electricity had gone off in the area. Two armed men arrived there and opened fire on him to snatch his mobile phone. The assailants fled after committing the crime. Jibran received a bullet to his chest and died on the spot.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Relatives told the media that the victim had been working in Saudi Arabia. His father had passed away a couple of weeks back, and he had returned home to attend the funeral. Jibran was the eldest among five siblings.

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the incident, his spokesperson Rasheed Channa said.

The CM ordered immediate arrest of the killers and sought a a progress report.
