SWABI: Two sisters have locked the whole market comprising 20 shops and staged a sit-in in Yar Hussain, Tehsil Razaar, over not being given their share in the inherited property by their brother, traders told Dawn on Sunday.

Two of the three sisters, who are demanding their share as per inheritance rights, said that their brother’s action had led them to lock the market. They said that their brother had warned them of forced vacation of the house, built on the common property, to get his share.

On the contrary, one of the sisters said: “My brother has been benefitting from this market; built on common land, for the three decades but we never complained, adding, he has also built a hujra (common guest house) and a house on the common land,” said one of them.

They said that jirga of the area for four months tried to resolve the issue but failed. It has been learnt that the jirga members backed by some influential of the area were towing the line of their brother.

Meanwhile, the traders of the area approached the two sisters to restore the market, but they refused and told them straight not to meddle in their family affairs and wait till resolution of the issue.

Their brother approached Yar Hussain police station to lodge a complaint but the police refused to interfere in their family internal issues and suggested him to contact jirga, who again approached the jirga members for resolution of the issue. However, his sisters were not ready to give any concession as they have allegedly been befooled by their brother since long.
