Playdough comes in a wide variety of types, textures and colours, offering endless possibilities for creativity. In the past, playdough was primarily a children’s toy, used to shape fun creations.

However, it has now evolved into a versatile medium, not just for play but also for crafting beautiful decorative items. With a little creativity, it’s easier than ever to sculpt stunning crafts and artistic pieces.

So, let’s create a cute flower with bees over it from foam dough. Once finished, it will be the perfect addition to brighten up your space!

Things you need:

  1. Foam clay/dough (six: brown, pink, green, black, yellow and white)

  2. Clear plastic container’s lid

  3. Clear plastic glass

  4. Toothpicks, at least four

  5. Dough shaping tools (optional)

  6. Hot glue

Directions:

  1. Based on the size of the container lid, take a medium-sized ball of green foam dough and press it evenly to form a perfect circular base for a flower; picture 2.

  2. Using the pink foam dough, shape five petals, each about one inch long, picture 3.

  3. Add small lines at the base of each petal to give a realistic texture, picture 4.

  4. Foam dough is delicate and can easily mix if accidentally touched or dropped, so handle it carefully while attaching the petals to the green base, picture 5.

  5. Take a small piece of brown foam dough, flatten it to form the floral disk, and carefully place it at the centre of the petals. Then, poke tiny holes into it for added detail, picture 6.

  6. To make the bees, take small portions of yellow foam dough and shape at least four oval bee bodies, picture 7.

  7. Roll out the black foam dough on a clean, even surface to create a thin string; picture 8.

  8. Wrap the black string around each bee body twice, then, either use a marker or small dots of dough to make the eyes, picture 9.

  9. Using white foam dough, create tiny wings according to the size of the bees and gently press them onto the back of each bee. Insert a toothpick into the bee to hold it securely, picture 10.

  10. Now carefully place the clear plastic glass over the flower and bees, and secure it with hot glue for a neat finish, pictures 11 and 12.
