RAWALPINDI: A woman accused of torturing to death her four-year-old step son was arrested by the Civil Lines police.

Shahnaz Bibi, a resident of Jhanda Chichi, lodged an FIR with Civil Lines police saying that she got married to Mohammad Ali 15 years ago and was blessed with five girls and two sons.

She said that her husband’s second wife, Aqsa Naz, lived in the same house in Jhanda Chichi and often used to beat her children. Upon returning home, she found Aqsa beating her four-year-old son, Abdul Hadi, with a baton and choking him.

She added that she intervened to rescue her son, with the help of her husband’s elder brother, and took him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) where he was pronounced dead.

According to initial police investigation, several torture marks and bruises were found on the body of the boy.

The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after postmortem.

Police said the accused woman had been arrested after a murder case was registered against her.
