MOBILE NETWORK

MOBILE NETWORK: The people in Khairpur district have been struggling owing to a pathetically slow mobile network in the area, leaving essential services like internet and calling severely disrupted. The mobile service in the entire district has been very slow for the last two years, but it has totally disappeared now in certain areas, like the Layari union council (UC) in Kot Diji tehsil. University students are unable to complete their assignments or take classes online. Users are spending millions of rupees on mobile packages in the hope of getting better service, but in vain.

UNDERPASS ISSUES: The Kalma Chowk underpass in Lahore has now been made signal-free for traffic heading towards the Firdous Market Road. The recent modifications to the underpass, while enhancing accessibility, have inadvertently increased the risk for light transport vehicles (LTVs). As such, the average speed of vehicles using the underpass tends to be high, which poses a significant threat to motorbikes as well as auto-rickshaws. Although speed limits of 30kph for LTVs and 50kph for heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) are clearly indicated, these signs are obscured by the flora present in the area. There is a pressing need for immediate action to enhance public safety.

SHORT SEMESTERS: A semester usually spans a period of six months. However, in private sector universities, the duration of semester is less than four months, and the rest of the days are wasted in mid-term and final examination breaks. Unfortunately, due to the short duration of semesters, teachers do not cover the entire course properly, and skip some topics. The Higher Edu-cation Commission (HEC) should ensure proper teaching and course completion in all universities across the country. Besides, the HEC should also enhance the duration of semesters so that the students may get proper knowledge.
