SWABI: Deputy Commissioner Nasrullah Khan assured the members of the general public that he would take stern legal action against the corrupt officials of the land revenue department and any complainant should directly approach his office in this regard.

Addressing the participants of a khuli kutcheri here on Saturday, he expressed his determination to eradicate corrupt practices in the public sector departments in the district and ensure that officials serve the people diligently.

He stressed that the delaying tactics of the officials and workers of public departments were not acceptable as they were bound to deliver according to their job description.

The DC maintained that the district administration had launched a campaign for the revival of various old games played by the Pakhtun people.

Regarding public complaints against spread of ice drug and narcotics in Nabi village and its suburbs, the deputy commissioner said that the matter would be brought into the notice of departments concerned to initiate legal action in this regard.

PESCO OFFICIAL’S MURDER: The district police are under tremendous pressure to apprehend the culprits involved in the murder of Pesco lineman, sources in police said.

A lineman named Kamran was killed and two others injured when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire at them last Thursday.

The police sources said that they were making all-out efforts to nab the accused, and expressed hope to complete their task soon.

Meanwhile, Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) offices remained shut to protest the lineman’s murder and injuries to others.

The Pesco employees also announced to stage a protest demonstration on Monday at Karnal Sher Khan Chowk against the incident. They warned to shut down the power supply of entire province if the murderers were not arrested by the district police within three days.

ISF DEMONSTRATION: The Insaf Students Federation (ISF) staged a protest demonstration for the release of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI)leader Imran Khan.

The protesters gathered in front of the Swabi Press Club and chanted slogansagainst the imprisonment of their leader.

Addressing the protesters, the ISF leaders said that people of the entire country followed Imran Khan and he should be released to form PTI’s government and rule the country according to the wishes of the people.

They stressed that Imran Khan had done nothing wrong and there was no justification to keep him behind the bars after his acquittal by the courts.
