SUKKUR: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Saturday granted ex-Pakistan leave to Prof Dr Khalil Ahmed Ibupoto, vice chancellor of Shah Abdul Latif University, amid ongoing protests against the VC at the university’s main campus in Khairpur.

Mr Ibupoto had submitted on June 24 his application for ex-Pakistan leave from June 26 to July 7, said section officer of the university, Kamal Ahmed, in a notice.

The notice said that the competent authority i.e. chief minister had approved the VC’s application for proceeding on ex-Pakistan leave for personal reasons.

The leave would continue till the end of his tenure as vice chancellor on Sept 30, subject to following conditions: there would be no financial liability on the part of the government; Mr Ibupoto’s name was not on the ECL and he was not required by any court of law during the leave period, it said.

The notice further said that Prof Dr Tehmina Nangraj, vice chancellor of Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University, Sukkur, would oversee the day to day affairs of Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, during the VC’s leave period in addition to her own duties.
