DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Three women and a girl were killed and seven others injured when a vehicle going in a wedding procession plunged into a deep ravine in Tank district on Sunday.

The police and local residents said that the tragic accident occurred in Sarghar area of the district due to brake failure. Mostly children and women were onboard the vehicle.

The deceased were identified as Awwal Jana, Hazrat Bibi, Islam Bibi and an unknown girl. The bodies and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital, Tank.

Separately, unidentified assailants opened fire on a motorcycle killing a man, identified as Hanif Baloch, 28, and critically injuring his wife.

The police said that the couple was coming to Dera from Bhakkar district of the Punjab. The incident occurred near Bagh-i-Sakoon Park on Dhappanwala Band in the limits of Gomal University police station.

The body and the injured were immediately shifted to a hospital, where the woman also succumbed to her injuries.

The police started a search to trace the suspected killers.
