TAXILA: Punjab Health SecretaryAli Jan Khan asked the Attock district administration to complete of state-of-the-art Mother and Child Care Hospital on time.
The estimated cost of the project would be over Rs5 million and the hospital will be constructed on 75 kanals.
He was reviewing the infrastructure development of the the project after inspecting the construction work at the hospital on Saturday.
Officials of the district administration, health department, finance and public works department as well as Infrastructure Development Authority of the Punjab (IDAP) were also present on the occasion.
Mr Jan directed the authorities to expedite the pace of construction work on the hospital which is moving at snail’s pace due to different administrative and technical reasons.
He said the present government was determined to provide quality healthcare to mother and child, and it has started work on the establishment of state-of-the-art mother and child hospitals.
The 365-bed hospital will be well-equipped, with state-of-the-art facilities, Mr Jan said, adding that “the Mother and Child Hospital will transform the health landscape of the district”.
He said that the purpose and objective of this hospital was to improve access of marginalised communities to quality and immediate medical and surgical services to mothers and their children.
He said that this will strengthen preventive services like immunisation, nutrition to children and their mothers of the Attock district. He said the government was paying special emphasis on provision of treatment facilities in public-sector hospitals. He said funds would be allocated for expansion of the hospital in the current financial year.
Briefing the minister, Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza said that the hospital will ensure the availability of qualified teams of physicians, technicians, nurses and administrative staff who are well skilled to offer best of their services to expecting mothers, facilitate them in labour and delivery and treat other health problems of women and children.
