SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: The staffers of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) conducted the first successful delivery in the basic health unit of Balochkot in Upper South Waziristan.

According to a press release, PRCS in collaboration with provincial health department and Norwegian Red Cross made possible the first-ever baby birth in the Balochkot BHU.

The dedicated health staff of the BHU successfully ensured a safe and healthy delivery. After a series of regular check-ups, the delivery was conducted, resulting in the birth of a healthy baby. The health staff examined both the mother and the child, providing necessary instructions and medications. The mother and child were discharged in good health, with a birth certificate issued by PRCS health staff.

Salman Ali Shah, PRCS spokesperson for merged areas, expressed satisfaction with the achievement. “We are proud of our dedicated health staffers, who have demonstrated their commitment to providing quality healthcare services to the community. This successful delivery is a testament to our efforts in enhancing maternal and child healthcare in the region,” he added

PRCS chairman for merged areas Imran Khan Wazir lauded the collaborative efforts that made the achievement possible. “It is an example of what can be achieved when organisations come together for the betterment of society,” he added.

The health facility in Balochkot is one of the two BHUs in Upper South Waziristan established by PRCS in adherence to international standards.

These health facilities are fully staffed, equipped with essential medicines, and provide ambulance services to locals.

Syed Kamal, secretary of PRCS, highlighted the ongoing efforts of his organisation in the region.

“The health department and Norwegian Red Cross continue to collaborate with PRCS in establishing free and stranded health facilities in Upper South Waziristan,” he added.
