QUETTA: Balochistan Assembly members along with the chief minister’s aide at a presser on Monday demanded immediate arrest of former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, calling him a ‘threat to national security’.

While addressing a news conference, lawmakers Mir Zahoor Buledi, Mir Arif Jan Mohammad Hasni, Khalil George and chief minister’s coordinator Babar Yousafzai accused Mr Khan of working on a foreign agenda.

Mr Buledi, former finance minister of Balochistan, said Mr Khan was leading country’s political situation to chaos and was involved in conspiracies to put country’s future at stake and to push the country to bankruptcy.

The leaked audio of ex-minister Shaukat Tareen had revealed an attempt to spoil an agreement with the IMF at the behest of Mr Khan so that the economy would collapse and the country default, the journalists were told at the press conference.

The lawmakers were of the opinion that inflation, unemployment, and economic crisis in the country were the result of Mr Khan’s four-year rule, while the ex-premier made public speeches against the Election Commission of Pakistan, the judiciary, and Pakistan Army on a ‘foreign agenda’.

The PTI chief was busy in putting national security at stake and insulting institutions only due to his lust for power, the leaders alleged, while demanding legal action against the former premier.
