ISLAMABAD: Islamabad police have arrested a suspect who allegedly made a hoax snatching call on the Pukar-15 helpline.
According to details, a citizen called the capital police helpline Pukar-15 and claimed that some persons in the jurisdiction of Industrial Area police station snatched his motorcycle and mobile phone at gunpoint and ran away.
Capital Police Officer Operations Syed Shahzad Nadeem Bukhari took notice of the incident and directed the DPO Industrial Area to conduct a transparent investigation and prepare a report of this case.
Senior officers reached the spot and after thorough investigation, the call of the citizen was found to be hoax and police registered a case against him and started legal proceedings.
The CPO Operations said Islamabad police were committed towards protecting life and property of citizens. The police were strictly following the policy of free registration of crime, he said, appealing to citizens to avoid making hoax calls because it was not only wasting the police’s time but also spreading panic among citizens.
Meanwhile, 24 students from Capital University of Science and Technology (Cust) and Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto University of Science and Technology (SZABIST) completed their internship with the Islamabad capital police traffic division, a police public relations officer said.
