PESHAWAR: Commissioner Peshawar division Riaz Khan Mehsud on Thursday said that work on renovation and beautification of Chowk Yadgar and adjacent areas would be started soon to restore its historical look.

He said that Chief Minister Mahmood Khan had instructed them to restore the historic structures and markets of inner city under the Peshawar Uplift Programme.

He said that practical steps were being taken to renovate and restore the grandeur of the historical markets of the inner city especially from Qissa Khwani to Kabli Gate, Qissa Khwani to Chowk Yadgar, Ghanta Ghar to Chowk Yadgar and the old city wall around Lady Reading Hospital.

He directed for the removal of electricity and telephone poles and wires and laying all the connections underground. He directed the relevant institutions to take the traders on board about the restoration of the city in its traditional style.
