KARACHI: Around a dozen people suffered burns when a fire erupted in a gas pipeline in Lyari on Monday, police said.

City SSP Asif Bughio said the fire erupted when the gas pipeline burst near Sabri Masjid in Bihar Colony on Mirza Adam Khan Road.

Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that 10 persons, including one teenager, were shifted to the Burns Centre of the Dr Ruth Pfau Civil Hospital Karachi.

Three seriously injured with over 25 per cent burns were admitted for treatment.

The SSP said that a moazin, Qari Akhter, was also among the seriously injured persons.

SP Ali Mardan Khoso said the fire incident took place due to leaked pipes.
