DERA GHAZI KHAN: Dozens of houses in Layyah were eroded by the Indus on Tuesday while two schools are facing the threat.
Erosion is going along the banks of the Indus in Layyah district as dozens of houses were hit by the erosion while two schools, including a girls primary school, in Chah Mumdo Totanwala Karor lal Esan are facing the threat.
District Education Officer Mrs Shaheena told the media that the erosion in Chah Mumdo Totanwala Karor Lal Esan had damaged the village while the staff and students were shifted to safe place.
Layyah Deputy Commissioner Azfar Zia told Dawn that the education department itself shifted the schools due to threat of erosion by the violent waters of the Indus.
SUSPENDED: Dera Ghazi Khan Health Chief Executive Officer Attiqur Rehman on Tuesday suspended two health employees on charges of dereliction of duty during the Covid vaccination campaign.
The CEO suspended Assistant Superintendent M. Shafi of DGK district health office and Senior Vaccinator Mushtaq of Kog Chhuta tehsil from service.
STRIKE BY MEDICS: Young doctors at teaching hospital of Dera Ghazi Khan medical college on Tuesday held a strike and closed OPD and Corona vaccination centres and demanded renewal of their service contract.
More than 150 young doctors went on a strike by suspending their duties at OPD and Corona vaccination centres.
Young Doctor Association President Dr.Rehmatullah told the media that the government should pay sincere attention towards problems being facing by the medics. He demanded that their service contract should be renewed otherwise the strike would be extended across the province.
