FAISALABAD: The Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) students on Friday staged a protest demonstration against the varsity administration for conducting on campus examination instead of online process.

The GCUF’s male and female students studying in masters classes gathered outside the university’s main gate and blocked the road for traffic, chanting slogans against the varsity administration.

Talking to reporters, they said the university had organised online classes just for one month after suspending the on-campus education during the Covid-19 pandemic, but now the students were being forced to take exams physically on the campus for which they were not prepared.

They demanded the varsity should conduct online exams instead of asking the students to appear physically in the examination.

They also sought more time for examination preparation if the administration wanted to hold on campus exams.

Some of the university teachers rejected the students allegation that the varsity did not organise proper online classes for them. They claimed the university had the proof of holding online classes and that could be verified.

They alleged the students were being used by some elements who just wanted to cause problems for the university administration which was trying to purge them and provide a conducive environment for academic activities.

They argues that the students were insisting on online exams as the process was not completely foolproof and they could cheat the examiners through different techniques.
