MANSEHRA: The police have enhanced the security of the Chinese nationals working on various China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects in Mansehra district following the recent Dasu bus explosion.

District police officer Asif Bahadur visited the site of the Jabori hydropower project and examined security arrangements.

He also met the Chinese engineers and workers and asked them about their security.

The DPO also said security checks around the site of the Suki Kinari hydropower project had also been increased by deploying extra force of the Frontier Constabulary.

He said workers and other employees were allowed to enter or leave the project site after body search and other security checks.

Meanwhile, the Chinese nationals working on the power project have got extra security following the recent Dasu bus blast, which left nine Chinese nations and four Pakistanis dead, an insider told Dawn.

He said work on the project was well under way.

Meanwhile, the residents of Upper Kohistan district announced that they would protect the life of Chinese workers of the Dasu hydropower project.

Maulana Abdul Wahab of the Dasu Dam Affectees’ Committee Maulana Abdul Wahab told reporters on Monday that the local residents would foil the enemy’s designs to sabotage the energy project.

Committee member Abdul Jabar welcomed the withdrawal of the notice to sack Pakistani workers of the Dasu project and said he was hopeful that work would resume shortly.

TWO KILLED: Two people were killed and two suffered critical injuries in separate road accidents here on Monday.

Mohammad Arif lost life and two people were critically injured when a jeep fell into a deep ravine in Nanoha area of Garhi Habibullah town.

The residents shifted the injured to the Garhi Habibullah Civil Hospital but the doctors declared Mohammad Arif dead and referred the others to the King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, Mansehra, due to serious condition.

In the other accident, atruck hit a car on the Hazara Expressway in Ichairan area leaving Mumtaz Ahmad seriously injured.

The injured died on the way to the civil hospital in Battle area.

The police registered separate FIRs and began search for both drivers, who fled after the accidents.
