SWABI: The police on Monday arrested two women after the recovery of two pistols and several rounds on the entrance to the Swabi Judicial Complex here.

District police officer Mohammad Shoaib Khan told Dawn that the women wearing burqa were searched after the guards developed suspicion.

He said male members of the arrested women’s family and their rivals were already present in the court in connection with hearing of a case over blood feud.

Mr Shoaib said they had tightened security around the judicial complex and lady constables also conducted body search of females before entering the courts.

“Our timely action averted another incident of killing inside the judicial complex,” said Swabi city DSP Bashir Ahmad Yousafzai, adding an FIR was registered against the two women in Zaida police station.

A man had killed his mother outside court on June 26.

Separately, Chota Lahor police recovered body of a woman from Chunthro village.

SHO Altaf Khan told Dawn that on information from locals, the police reached the village and collected the body.

“There were signs of violence on her body,” said a policeman, who examined the body.

Also in the day, people of Yar Hussain staged a protest demonstration against unscheduled and prolonged electricity loadshedding.

The people marched through markets chanting slogans against the ruling PTI leaders and Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The protesters said Pesco resorted to prolonged power suspension even if there was little rain.

The protesters dispersed when local Pesco officials assured them that only scheduled outages would be carried out in future.
