[Meanwhile, as reported by agencies in Dacca,] Chittagong, the biggest port in East Pakistan, has been cleared of anti-State and anti-Social elements, most of whom have surrendered to the Army, according to official sources. ... A number of political leaders, including Mr Fazlul Quader Chowdhry, Maulvi Farid Ahmad and Mr Sultanuddin Ahmad have met the local Martial Law authorities and assured them of their co-operation... .

[Agencies add from Rawalpindi,] The Chief Martial Law Administrator, General Agha Mohammad Yahya Khan, today [April 9] promulgated a Martial Law Regulation No. 78 providing for restrictions on the movements or expulsion from the country of suspected persons to prevent them from harmful activities.

[Correspondent adds from Quetta,] Khan Abdus Samad Khan Achakzai, President of Pashtoonkhwa National Awami Party, has strongly condemned the malicious Indian propaganda about the situation in East Pakistan. ...[T]he Pashtoon leader expressed surprise over the false news repeatedly broadcast by All India Radio that he had been arrested.
