KARAK: The police claimed on Saturday to have arrested five drug smugglers and seized 9,950 kilogrammes of hashish from their possession.
Officials said SHO Takht-i-Nusrati police station Qabil Khan led a raid on the hideout of notorious drug peddler, Nazranullah, a resident of Sarki Lawagher, and arrested him. The raiding party also recovered 5,250 kilogrammes hashish and a 9mm pistol from him.
SHO Karak police station Asif Sharif raided a hideout of drug peddlers in the Old Bazaar of the city and arrested Khaliq Dad and Saleem Khan. The police also recovered 2,500 kilogrammes hashish from them.
The Latamber police arrested two persons riding a motorcycle identified as Abdul Fayyaz and Gul Ghazi Khan, residents of Sarki Lawagher, and recovered 2,200 kilogrammes hashish from their possession.
The police registered FIRs against all the drug peddlers.
Meanwhile, four personnel of SNGPL suffered burns when a fire erupted during repair of a gas line in Ahmadi Banda area.
Officials said the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Banda Daud Shah, wherefrom one of the seriously injured was referred to a Peshawar hospital.
