KARACHI: A suspected robber was shot dead in an ‘encounter’ in a Korangi locality late on Thursday night, said police.

They added that three suspects riding a motorbike intercepted a family, who were also riding a two-wheeler, near Darul Uloom Chowrangi.

As they were looting the couple, four policemen patrolling on two motorcycles reached there.

On seeing the police, the suspects resorted to firing, upon which the police returned fire in which one suspect was gunned down while his two accomplices managed to escape, leaving behind their motorbike that was seized by the police, said Zaman Town police officer Mazhar Shah.

The deceased was identified as Mohammed Naveed. The officer claimed that the deceased had a criminal record.
