SWABI: Students of various public sector colleges here on Monday staged a protest demonstration against the failure of the University of Swabi to declare the results of the last three semesters of the BS programme.

The students of Swabi, Kotha, Chota Lahor, Yar Hussain and other colleges under the banner of Muttahida Talaba Mahaz blocked the Swabi-Jehangira Road for traffic, chanting slogans against the varsity administration for ‘unfair’ treatment.

It was reported that no student took classes in all the government boys colleges of Swabi during the day.

The protesting students claimed the students of the university were given fair treatment, but those of the colleges faced problems. They demanded that those who had completed their BS should be awarded degrees without delay.

They also demanded same examination papers for the students of the university and colleges, alleging that often out-of-course questions were given in the papers meant for the college students.

Later, assistant commissioner, Chota Lahor, Sana Hafeez held talks with the students, assuring them that their problems would be resolved on a priority. After the assurance, the students dispersed.

NEW SCBA PRESIDENT GREETED: The members of Qam Qalam, a literary body, have expressed hope that senior lawyer Latif Afridi, who has been elected as the Supreme Court Bar Association president, would deliver according to the people’s expectations. They were speaking at a meeting presided over by the body’s patron-in-chief Dr Mohammad Jaseem.

They lauded the role of the senior advocate who had emerged victorious due to his matchless character and tremendous contributions to the human cause he had made during his life, both as a lawyer and a politician.
