BAHAWALPUR: Police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested two persons who raped women in the areas falling in the jurisdiction of the Saddar and Baghdadul Jadid police.

Police sources said a fake spiritual healer raped a woman who would visit her to invoke blessings. Police arrested the suspect on the report of the woman.

In the other incident which took place at village 13-Soling near here, the Baghdadul Jadid police arrested a man who harassed his neighbour and sought her hand in marriage. She alleged that the suspect raped her and made her video through which he threatened her and forced her to pay money. Police arrested the suspect on the complaint of the woman.

ELECTION: Tanveer Mahmood, Ghulam Fareed and Muhammad Muneeb Malik were declared elected unopposed as president, senior VP and vice president respectively of the Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) here on Wednesday.

They had filed their nomination papers for the offices but none of the members of the chamber filed their papers against them.Earlier, Begum Parveen Ramzan was also declared elected unopposed as BCCI executive committee member as she was also solitary candidate for the women’s seat.
