SWABI: The local police have traced the killers in two murder cases here.

They said that an Afghan refugee was killed in the second week of January. Kako Khan, father of the deceased, had stated that his son Ali Khan was killed by unidentified assailants.

The police arrested Arsalan Khan, another Afghan refugee, and during investigation he confessed that he had killed Ali Khan after exchange of hot words.

In another such case, the police investigation into killing of a newspaper hawker revealed that the victim’s father was involved in his murder.

Topi tehsil DSP Iftikhar Ali Khan told this scribe on Wednesday that Nasir Khan, a hawker of Abaseen News Agency, Topi, was killed a week ago near his house.

His father Zamarud Sarhadi, a poet, had registered an FIR in Topi city police station against unidentified assailants.

During investigations, Mr Sarhadi said that Nasir’s wife had applied for separation in a local family court and demanded payment of mahr (dower).

According to police, Nasir was asking his father to help him in payment of mahr or make efforts through local jirga to bring back his wife, but the father was not ready for that.

According to Mr Sarhadi, during a clash the pistol fell down from Nasir’s hand and he picked it up and shot him dead.

DSP Iftikhar said that after the confession, a case under section 302 had been registered against Mr Sarhadi.

POLICE APP LAUNCHED: The district police here on Wednesday formally launched ‘Swabi Police Help Line App’, saying it would bring the police and people closer on the one hand and help in eradicating crimes on the other.

District police officer Imran Shahid briefed mediapersons about the app.

He said that they had run a full-fledged campaign to educate the people about use of the police app.
