HYDERABAD: Turkish Consul General (CG) in Karachi Tolga Ucak have urged people of Pakistan and Turkey to learn Turkish and Urdu, respectively as the two languages shared 5,000 common words and this lexical similarity must be cashed in on.
The CG speaking at a ceremony organised by Sindh University (SU) to honour the guest who visited the varsity on Sunday.
Mr Ucak stated that though Pakistan and Turkey were geographically located far off, hearts of people of two countries throbbed together on account of abundant love they mutually cherished for one another.
“Turkey offers multiple exchange and regular scholarship opportunities in diverse fields. I will insist upon the SU faculty and students to surf online to avail of them,” he said.
“Our deeply rooted relations are not only continuing in a steady way but getting different dimensions. Our consulate in Karachi is doing its best to promote ties between people and institutions of two countries,” he said.
Sindh University VC Prof Dr Fateh Mohammad Burfat said : “People of Pakistan and Turkey are bound together by a joint mystic tradition, encompassing in single string spiritual poetic legacy of Maulana Jalaluddin Rumi, Allama Mohammad Iqbal and Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.”
