GUJRANWALA: Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Syed Ali Imran on Tuesday acquitted seven suspects in the murder case of MPA Rana Shamshad Ahmad.

On May 31, 2015, MPA Rana Shamshad, his son Rana Shahbaz and friend Mehmood Ahmad were on their way by a car when some suspects fired on them in Kamoke, killing them on the spot.

Police had registered a case against 13 people.

Later, main suspect Tariq Patwari was killed in an ‘encounter’ while Naveed Asghar died in jail. Another suspect had a natural death. Seven suspects Faqeer Muhammad his two sons Shahbaz Ahmad, Sarfraz Ahmad, Awais Tariq, Shahbaz, Ghulam Rasool, Sabir Hussain alias Saifullah and Waheedullah alias kaloo got bail from the court while three suspects Rafique alias Feeqi, Zafarullah Gujjar and Naqi Hassan were declared proclaimed offenders.

On Tuesday, the ATC judge acquitted seven suspects giving them the benefit of the doubt.

THREE KILLED: Three people were run over and killed by a trailer here on Tuesday on Kamoke-GT Road.

Reports said Matloob, 28, his nephew Naveed, 15, residents of Muridke, and their friend Zamin Abbas of Kamoke were on their way to Kamoke by a motorbike when a trailer hit them near Ghenia, killing them on the spot.

Some passersby stopped the trailer.

Saddar police have arrested trailer driver Aurangzeb of Dunyapur, Lodhran, and registered a case.
