LAHORE: Newly-appointed vice chancellor of the King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Prof Khalid Masood Gondal took charge of the office on Tuesday.

Prof Khalid was among 46 candidates who were shortlisted by the search committee for interview against the vacant slot of the KEMU.

The committee recommended three senior medics to the Punjab government for the top post.

The two others were KEMU acting VC Prof Aamir Zeman Khan and Services Institute of Medical Sciences’ former principal Prof Hamid Butt.

The caretaker set-up appointed Prof Gondal the vice chancellor for his academic achievements, Tamgha-i-Imtiaz against his meritorious services in the field of medical services and the grade 21 by the Punjab government.

A notification of his appointment was issued accordingly a couple of days ago.
