BAHAWALPUR: The National Defence University (NDU) would establish its sub-campus in Bahawalpur, according to a press release issued on Friday.

A memorandum of understanding was signed between the NDU and the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Bahawalpur, at a ceremony at the Cholistan Auditorium where DHA project director Brig Arif Rashid Kiyani and NDF acting president Maj-Gen Samraiz Salik were present.

Bahawalpur Corps Commander Lt-Gen Shair Afgun welcomed the establishment of the sub-campus in Bahawalpur and said local students would get a good quality higher education.

The is the first NDU sub-campus outside Islamabad. Students both civilians and army personnel from about 40 countries are enrolled in the NDU.

Brig Kiyani said the DHA would establish more campuses in Bahawalpur.

PAT: Pakistan Awami Tahreek (PAT) General-Secretary Khurram Nawaz Gandapur told a press conference that they condemned the hooliganism of PML-N workers and lawyers in the accountability court, Islamabad, during the hearing of a corruption case of Maryam Nawaz and her husband MNA Muhammad Safdar.

He regretted that the country’s courts were being disrespected but the rulers were silent .He demanded justice for the families whose people had been killed in Model Town by police. He also expressed concern over the weak economy of Pakistan and increasing foreign loans. He said Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal was busy in dialogues with the World Bank, whereas Finance Minister Ishaque Dar was facing corruption charges in the accountability court.

ROAD CRASH: One person was killed and three others were injured, one of them seriously, when a bus of the Islamia University hit motorcycle and others at Himayatian Chowk near Satellite Town on Friday.

According to Rescue 1122, deceased motorcyclist Skindar, of village 103/DB, was hit by the speeding bus while three bystanders - Muhammad Asif ,Imran and a teenage unidentified boy, were also run over and injured. They were admitted to the Bahawal Victoria Hospital while Baghdadul Jadid police arrested the driver and impounded the bus.
