LAHORE: A worker was killed when the roof of a buffalo pen collapsed in Hanjarwal on Monday.
Police said Mazhar Husain, 45, was doing his routine work at a buffalo pen near Thokar Niaz Beg when its dilapidated roof caved in because of Sunday night rain, leaving him and two cattle heads trapped under the debris.
Locals and rescue teams reached the spot, pulled Husain out of the debris and shifted him to the Jinnah Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival. The two buffaloes also died in the incident.
Police handed over the labourer’s body to his family after completing legal formalities.
FIRE: A young man, who suffered burns two days ago, died at the Mayo Hospital on Monday.
Police said Muhammad Shafqat, 30, was an office boy at a law chamber on Temple Road. On Saturday night, he suffered burns when a mysterious fire erupted at the chamber.
Rescue 1122 firefighters put off the fire and shifted Shafqat to the Mayo Hospital for treatment where he died on Monday.
Police moved the body to the city morgue for autopsy, collected forensic evidence from the scene and recorded statements of eyewitnesses.
DIES: A 35-year-old man died in a road accident in Sanda on Monday.
Police said Manzoor of Sanda was on a bike when he lost its control, hit the footpath and suffered injuries.
Rescue 1122 ambulance shifted the injured man to hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.
Police moved the body to morgue for autopsy and later handed it over to the family after completing legal formalities.
