FBISE to set up own examination centres

If all goes according to plan, the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) will be establishing five central examination centres of its own in various areas of the federal capital.
Examination centres are currently established in schools and the board will now be constructing multipurpose centres in five areas including in Bhara Kahu, Tarnol, Tramri and Humak.
These centres will primarily be used as examination halls for Higher Secondary School Certificate and Secondary School Certificate exams and the board will also be establishing science laboratories in these buildings which will be open for use by students of affiliated students throughout the year.
Affiliated schools of the area will also be allowed to use the centres of holding extra curricular activities such as speech competitions and sports activities.
FBISE Chairman Dr Ikram Ali Malik said the board had moved a summary many months ago and only got a response from the Capital Development Authority (CDA) a few days ago.
“This is a student centric project and I will request the CDA chief and the member concerned to finalise the allotment process as soon as possible as we have sufficient funds to pay for the land,” he said,
The board chairman added that every year, the centres will be accommodating between 3,000 and 5,000 students appearing in exams, and that centres will be established in schools in far flung areas so that local students can easily appear for exams.
When asked, CDA Member Planning and Design Asad Mehboob Kayani said the CDA has started working on FBISE’s application.
“In principle, we agree that FBISE should be given land for establishing the centres on. It is a good project and we will support the education board in achieving desired results,” he said.
