Election tribunal issues notice to Ayaz Sadiq

LAHORE: An election tribunal issued on Friday a notice to National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on a petition filed by PTI candidate Abdul Aleem Khan alleging irregularities and pre-poll rigging in the NA-122 (Lahore) by-election.

The Election Commission of Pakistan had referred the petition to the tribunal for initial vetting of questions raised in it.

Aleem Khan had lost the Oct 11 by-election to Mr Sadiq.

The petition filed through Advocate Anees Hashmi alleged that at least 30,000 votes had been cancelled and shifted from the NA-122 constituency before the by-poll. It said the ECP had the record of shifting of only 7,000 votes from the constituency, adding that this act of the commission was amounted to pre-poll rigging.

The petition requested the tribunal to set aside the result of the by-election on the grounds of alleged rigging. Rasheed Qamar, a member of the tribunal, directed Ayaz Sadiq to appear in person or through a lawyer to answer the questions raised in the petition.

That's is the PTI persverence against status quo. If justice is not a dream in this scenario, this should conclude on straight disqualification of Mr Sadiq and stern punishment for the involved parties.

It's a wise move. Don't let these status quo with their tricks free handily. How long and how many times will they cheat people. The more quick they are apprehended the more awareness may come up in people.

No technical irregularities should be ignored. This Election Commission has made a mockery of clean election system. They have been encouraged repeatedly by inaction authorities connected. This has encouraged all crooks to continue with irregularities since these are strangely admissable in Pakistan Election Commission!!!!

Under the circumstances, fair elections in Pakistan are impossible. The biggest problem remains the ignorance of people. Democracy is premature in Pakistan. In a democracy, people have to be educated to understand the issues, and have to be free to vote their own conscience. It is not happening in Pakistan.

We are trapped in vicious circle of elections re-elections election. What is the guarantee if ALEEM khan win in reelection than ayaz sadiq won't take similar action.

Elections can't be free until Pti wins, they have objection on this result but they are ok with the provincial assembly result in the same constituency where Pti wins. LG election results reflects the same pattern or even Pti plus ji combo performs worst. But they have no shame at all.

Isn't it just disgusting? Why play this drama of democracy if it has to go on and on, each time with different means. The corrupt system has prevailed so strongly on this society that even if you raise a voice, they will make you look like some one out of his mind. Who ever does financial or system related corruption in this country is never ever gets punished and is rather considered a king of his own domain who gets divine right to leave generations of his kind behind him.

In the interest of time, Election Tribunal should verify the complaint straight away to find out if the allegations are true or otherwise. NADRA has full computerized records and it's easy to find out the facts on the ground within a stipulated period in ordeer to kill the matter once for all.

What amazes me is that every time there are "irregularities"not rigging, never, and yet no one is ever held responsible for these irregularities. Of course Ayaz Sadiq will win another 100 times until and unless those who are responsible for "irregularities" not rigging, never rigging... Are held d responsible.

It is the Election commission itself which is under suspicion here supporting a government's candidate. These are enough grounds to cast the neutrality of this commission in doubt. Any general election if held under this commission would be another exercise in futility. These guys have to go!

30,000 votes transferred and ECP has the record of only 7000, Aleem Khan lost by 2400 votes, this is great. And when I transferred my vote I had to present the affidavit and a proof of my residence in the area to the ECP, only then they transferred my vote. This is the trick no 2793 in the PML-N's book of how to do pre-poll rigging.

The tribunal wants Ayaz Sadiq to answer a few questions and that's all. This does not mean there was rigging. The onus to provide is on PTI. PMLn won fair and square.
