PESHAWAR: The outlawed Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) announced on Wednesday its decision to not extending the ceasefire and said that the government had failed to respond positively to the militant organisation's ceasefire of more than 40 days.
TTP spokesman Shahidullah Shahid, in his detailed statement, said that the government has failed to respond positively to Taliban's 'realistic' demands of establishing a peace zone, release of non-combatants and suspension of security forces operation in tribal areas.
“These were concrete steps for building confidence and defusing the tension,” he added.
Shahidullah blamed the government for rooting out an operation killing more than 50 of their activists and arresting over 200, saying hundreds of raids have also been conducted across the country which negated the ceasefire.
He said that the deadline for ceasefire had expired six days ago (April 10) but still there was a “mysterious silence” among the government ranks over peace talks.
The central spokesman of the Pakistani Taliban added that in the light of these developments, the TTP Shura has unanimously decided not to extend the ceasefire any more. He, however, added that the militant outfit would be willing to respond to any positive response from the government so that the peace process continues.
Moreover, the TTP Mohmand Agency chief, Umer Khalid Khurasani, also issued a statement in which he had said that government was not serious about peace and the only way to implement true Shariah was jihad.
Earlier on March 1, the TTP had announced a month-long ceasefire breaking a deadlock that was reached between mediating teams of the government and Taliban committee.
Within 24 hours of the ceasefire announcement, the government had also made public its decision to halt air strikes on militant hideouts.

Well there we have it - confirmation that these people are not sincere but were just biding time ("Jihad is the only way to implement Sharia").
The Nawaz Government has through its extreme stupidity given these people free air time and publicity for the best part of 8 weeks. The whole dialogue fiasco is the brainchild of Chaudhry Nisar who not for the first time is leading Nawaz Shariff down a deadly cul -de sac. When will our esteemed Prime Minister start thinking for himself and ditch this man?
I note no announcements have come from Nisar or the Government. I would have thought the correct response is: "We are still hopeful for a peaceful outcome,, but all terrorists need to be aware that any outrage will be met with the full force of the Law and devastating military force".

Trying to acheive peace with TTP is a complete waste of time and energy. Every person knew very well, its a dead end. As the peace talks failed, no cease fire extension, so now continuation of brutality, killing innocent.

Unfortunately the only person who had the courage and conviction to fight terrorists is facing charges of terrorism for taking action in Lal Masjid and is called Ghaddar. This is the state of our country, the most corrupt people are ruling us and a proven honest leader is imprisoned. Yet our armed forces are unable to protect their own honest leader and we are cowards so we can't support him either.

Why negotiate with criminals, who are uncivilized and have a sick mind? They can never be rationale and trying to reason with them is worse then hitting your head against the wall! We do not need ceasefire - it never lasts! They do not belong in our country and if they will not leave voluntarily, they need to be destroyed. Our military is capable of doing just that - please, for the sake of our children, let them grow up in peace and make your country proud - I say to our military - go and get them and finish the job.

Did any one expect any different? show me one who did and I will show you an idiot or a supporter of TTP. I have said all along it is a "Zero Sum Game." For Pakistan to survive, TTP has to be completely eliminated and if TTP survives and prospers, Pakistan is history. How can you have both in the same country when one ABSOLUTELY believes in the other's total enslavement or annihilation. Haven't the TTP made that amply clear from the "gitgo" or am I missing some thing? The only solution is to kill these cockroaches.

What a classical dealing by these Nawaz and Niswar gang. They have humiliated Pakistan Army and locked them up on a side track and negotiating with these terrorists. They sold out the terrorists apprehended by the security agencies and got them out of winter snow. Now they are finely black mailing the so called government, which can't control the traffic.
It appears that Nawaz group is negotiating with these terrorists to help them in fighting against Pakistan Army, which seems to be their common enemy. This may be "Taliban Gate" scandal like the "Memo Gate" scandal.

One has to be an absolute imbecile to have even remotely entertained the hope that any good will come out of this 'fools errand' that negotiations with the TTP were. Chaudhry Nisar Ali, Imran Khan, NS and others of their ilk who have a soft spot for these barbarians ought to know better. The JUI, JI and other islamist groups are very comfortable with the anachronistic, savage and oppressive agenda of the TTP because this is what they want to see happen too. This is the time for the military to shed its chicken heartedness and declare to the civilian government in no uncertain terms that an accomodation with the TTP is totally unacceptable to the army no matter how attractive it appears to the PML-N to save its province from any retalitory activity.

Only army with leadership of generals like Musharraf can destroy insurgency, terrorism and lawlessness in Pakistan if army is given free hand for three years. Time is running out, decide which is first country or corrupt politicians coming through rigged and manipulated elections which is very easy because of poor and uneducated masses. Politicians have been given sufficient time since sham democracy was restored. Conditions have gone from worse to worst.

Also if TTP is demanding for sharia why is this a problem in a country where 95% are muslims and created based on religion. Is Islam is used only to do Jihad if not why not govern based on Islam and Sharia and throw away the western system.

TTP wanted to implement true shariah under which they slaughter our FC Jawans, bomb out a number of innocent and unconcerned persons leaving thousands dead and equally wounded. They challenged the writ of the Government from the very first day. Aik mian me do talwar nahi rah sakti. But Government,ignoring this factor initiated muzakrat with TTP to stop the kilings and bomb attacks. However initially it was failed followed by various attacks by Taliban forces killing a number of peoples. The new muzakrat committee under the direct supervision of Chaudhry NIsar,releasing Taliban prisoners without having any swap has also been failed as TTP not extending the ceasefire further. Accepting their demands mean formation of a state under state which can not be allowed.TTP must be dealt with iron hands.Ager hathiar unehn pasand hain tu Pak Army me aajain aur dushman k khelaf muthid ho jayen na k apni hi sharug katna shru kerden.
