LAHORE: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has ordered removal of the acting chief executive officer of the Punjab Land Development Company and initiation of action against other officials for non-completion of the road from Burki to the Ashiyana Iqbal site.

During his visit to the site on Burki Road on Monday, the chief minister expressed displeasure over slow pace of work and negligence in execution of the project. He said the officers showing negligence towards public welfare projects would not be tolerated in Punjab.

He said Ashiyana Housing Scheme was started for the benefit of low-income families and no negligence would be tolerated. He said thousands of homeless people had been provided shelter in Ashiyana Quaid. Besides Lahore, work was also being carried out speedily on Ashiyana Housing Schemes in Sahiwal, Faisalabad and other big cities of the province.

He further claimed residential facilities on a par with housing societies of the rich had been provided in Ashiyana.
