KARACHI: Six of the eight players stormed into men’s singles last eight by winning their first round matches in the Sindh ranking tennis championship at Union Club on Saturday.

Those who were through to the next round include Robin Das, Noor Mohammad, Sufyan Shivani, M. Ali, Ebad Sarwar and Aqeel Shabbir.

Brothers Marib Malik and Shazil Malik surged into next round in juniors’ under-17 and under-13 singles, respectively.

Results: Men’s singles: First round: Robin Das bt Abdullah Khan 6-1, 6-0; Noor Mohammad bt Ahmed Elahi 6-4, 6-0; Sufyan Shiwani bt Mujahidullah 6-1, 6-3; M. Ali bt Zakir Khan 6-0, 6-0; Ebad Sarwar bt Saad Ahmed 6-2, 6-2; Aqeel Shabbir bt Abid Baloch 6-0, 6-1.

Under-15 singles: First round: Mohammad Raza Sawani bt Nasrullah 6-2, 6-1.

Juniors’ under-17 singles: First round: Ibrahim Iltifat bt Abdul Haseeb 6-2, 6-0; Ebad Sarwar bt Taha Hasan 6-2, 6-2; Marib Malik bt Hania Naveed 6-0, 6-0.

Under-13 singles: First round: Shahzil Malik bt Mujahidullah 6-1, 6-0; Nasrullah bt Rida Khan 6-2, 6-1.

Sunday’s fixtures: Matches start at 9.00am.
