SWABI: The people of Katgram, a scenic village in Gadoon Amazai mountainous belt here, said on Wednesday that after over five decades of struggle they would soon see their village electrified.

Talking to Dawn on Wednesday they said the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf leaders had played a role in sanctioning the project for the village.

The villagers criticised the other parties for making false promises with them during election campaigns, but failing to realise their word after coming to power.

Katgram village is nestled in the middle of mountains, presenting an eye-catching view, but thanks to official neglect, it has been denied development.

Comprising about 300 families, the village falls in Gabasni union council, which is part of PK-36, Swabi-VI constituency.

VARSITY CLOSED: The University of Swabi and the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University’s Swabi campus, were closed after the terrorist attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda on Wednesday.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Matiullah Khan told this correspondent that the Swabi university and campus of Benazir Bhutto Women University had been closed till further orders.

However, officials said the schools and colleges in the district would remain open.

LAID TO REST: Lecturer Dr Syed Hamid Hussain, who was killed in the terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University, Charsadda, was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard in proper Swabi city here on Wednesday.

He was a lecturer of chemistry and joined the university about three years back. He hailed from Sherdadkhel area of Swabi city. He left behind a widow, a three-year-old son and a one-year-old daughter.
