SANGHAR, June 10 The leaders of the Workers Party Pakistan has described the federal budget as an IMF budget and cuts in allocations for health and education sectors as shameful.

The local party leaders Hassan Askari, Jameel Ahmed Advocate and Mir Hassan Mari said in their speeches at the end of a procession here on Thursday that the budget had ignored the 170 million people of the country.

The government had given a lollypop to its employees by raising their basic pay by 50 per cent, which was just an eyewash, they said.

They demanded cut in defence budget and said that the farm sector which provided livelihood to 70 per cent of the population had been completely ignored.

The per capita allocation for health and education was simply shameful and reflected the importance these sectors had in the minds of the rulers, they said, adding it seemed the health and education had been left at the mercy of God.

Earlier, the procession marched on different roads before reaching the local press club and dispersed peacefully after registering its protest.

MOSQUITOES The Shehri Action Committee has urged the taluka municipal administration to carry out fumigation in the town to kill mosquitoes and other insects which cause diseases.

The committee leaders Sufi Abdul Haq and Manzoor Ahmed Jat said at a meeting held here on Thursday that mosquitoes had multiplied in the wake of recent rains and no preventive measures had been taken by the administration to control them.

They recommended that fumigation be carried out on priority basis in Al-Mansoora Colony, Housing Society, Shahmeer Colony and Khadparo where rainwater was stagnating in low lying areas providing a breeding place to mosquitoes, flies and other insects.
