LARKANA, Jan 30: A delegation of high commissioners and other diplomats of 19 countries based in Pakistan led by H.E. Rodolfo Martin Saravia, the ambassador of Argentina, visited Moenjodaro on Wednesday.

They went round the Stupa, DK-area and visited the museum. Diplomats from France, Japan, Canada, the Maldives, Malaysia, Indonesia, Switzerland, Nepal, Bangladesh and other countries were part of the delegation.

Larkana Deputy Commissioner Assadullah Abro and curator of Moenjodaro museum Ghulam Hussain Burdi briefed the delegates about the Indus Civilisation and the site.

They said the site had been discovered first in 1911 and later Sir John Marshal excavated it further.

The artefacts, ornaments, discovered from Moenjodaro were also found from the Harappa and Mesopotamia civilisations.

Speaking on the occasion, the delegation leader said he was happy to be at the site of the 5,000-year-old civilisation when its residents were living under such a developed and well-defined system.

He said Sindh had tremendous cultural heritage in its lap.

The deputy commissioner presented the diplomats traditional gifts of the Sindhi Ajrak and cap.

The delegates appreciated the hospitality of the Sindh government and district administration.
