ISLAMABAD, Jan 14: Maulana Shah Ahmed Noorani, Allama Sajid Naqvi, Prof Sajid Mir and Maulana Samiul Haq are among the prominent MMA leaders who have been given tickets by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal for the forthcoming Senate elections.

Besides, Prof Khurshid Ahmad and NWFP MMA Chief Qazi Abdul Latif had also been awarded MMA tickets, MMA Central leader Liaquat Baloch told APP here on Tuesday.

“The final list of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal’s candidates for the Senate elections would be finalised within two or three days,” he said.

Baloch said that the process of submitting nomination papers had been initiated and the exact position would become clear after its completion.

In reply to a question, he said that in Balochistan, where the MMA was a coalition partner in the government, the party’s provincial committee was in the process of finalizing the formula for the Senate tickets.

The MMA had formed committees in the four provinces to recommend nominations and sent them to the MMA Supreme Council for a final decision.—APP
