THE government has not paid any attention to the problems of the people who live in Kaacho areas of Sindh. Kaacho is located in the lap of the Khirthar mountains in Dadu district. It has a population of more than 30,000 people whose source of income is trading and farming. Farming depends on rains as there are no canals while its barren surface is not suitable for installing tube-wells for irrigation. Although some tube-wells were installed at a depth of 300 to 400 feet but these have failed to provide the quantity of water needed for irrigation.
Thus the Kaacho people have to rely on the rainfall only. Owing to the dearth of livelihood opportunities the people of Kaacho are deprived of the basic needs of life.
They do not have any education, health facility, road networking and economic marketing. The bitter reality is that local MPAs and other political leaders have forgotten the people of Kaacho.
It may be mentioned here that Asia’s coldest and beautiful hill, the Gorakh hill station, is also located in Kaacho at a distance of 40km from Wahi Pandhi. This place has been visited by many well-known politicians and tourists from all over the world.
Benazir Bhutto had also visited Gorakh hill station in 1996 and asked the then chief minister to do the needful to establish that place. But unluckily nobody did anything.
Now the people of Kaacho look to the government to help them to tide over their problems.
