LAHORE, Dec 31: Thoroughbred chestnut colt Assassin starts off as our day’s best during the 18th Lahore Winter Meeting at the Racecourse here on Sunday.

He is participating in the sixth and the feature event, the Listen To Me Plate class IV division I, II and III combined handicap race to be gone over 1,400 metres.

Assassin is unbeaten with four wins to date and will be on the course to extend his winning streak further. Already the prized colt has to his credit the National Breeders’ Cup he won as a three-year-old last March.

Filly Royal Baker and bay colt Victory Boy will be quite content to bag second and third spot.

Chestnut colt Agasi, beaten last time out by Big Heart, will try to make amends in the supporting event, the Yasoob Again Plate class V division II to be contested over 1,200 metres. Royal Impala and National Asset will be battling it out for the lower berths in this the seventh race in racing order.

The eighth and the second supporting event, the Yasoob Again Plate class V division III over 1,200 metres, should provide the racing fans plenty to cheer about with a quartet of a dozen runners fighting it out.

Those on chance are Bedouin Raider, Moment Of Truth, In My Heart and Fakhr-e-Shaheen. But Moment Of Truth and In My Heart should battle it out for the top honours.

Five-year-old blue-roan horse White Money faces a difficult task to complete his seventh straight victory in the ninth race, the Fantastic Plate class VI division I to be run over 1,200 metres.

White Money had won his sixth and last race in May and then was afflicted with sore-shin trouble which kept him off the track for a lengthy period until now.

Speedy roan horse Jurrat and bay Quick Return are also taking part in this race to make it a lively contest in a big field of 18 runners.

Chestnut colt Sufyan Love, with three consecutive wins, under his belt will be on the course to complete his fourth straight triumph although speedy Khurram Prince and Hope For All along with another speedy customer in Freedom Song are there to make it a well-contested event.

A card of 10 events will be decided on the new year day with five races to be contested over 1,000 metres, one over 1,400 metres and four over 1,200 metres.

The first race will be held at 11.00am.
