LAHORE, Aug 24: Two robbers shot dead a Germany-returned youth on resistance in Sandah while a grocery shop owner, who was shot at and injured by robbers about two weeks ago, died at a city hospital on Wednesday.

Sandah police said that armed robbers stopped 31-year-old Muhammad Imran while on his way home in National Town and snatched cash and a cell phone from him. When the robbers tried to snatch his motorcycle, Imran, the father of three, overpowered one of them, but his accomplice fired at him and fled. The injured was ferried to Mayo Hospital where he died.

Imran, who had returned from Germany a few days ago, was coming back from Usman Park after collecting monthly rent of his shops.

The victim’s family and neighbours blocked the main Sandah Road and also burnt used tyres in protest.

Meanwhile, the police shifted the body for an autopsy and registered a case against the robbers on the complaint of Mohsin Naveed, the victim’s brother.

Nawab Town police said that 21-year-old Bahadur Khan of Sheikhupura district died at Jinnah Hospital in early hours of Wednesday some two weeks after he was shot at and injured by two gunmen who had also looted cash and valuables at Al-Noor Super Store in Ali Town.
