KARACHI, July 27: Zone-III Whites qualified for the semi-finals of the Woodward Trophy KCCA Inter-zonal Under-17 cricket tournament despite suffering a one-wicket defeat against Zone-V Blues at the Landhi Gymkhana here on Tuesday.

Zone-V Blues lost nine wickets in chasing down a modest target after bowling out Zone-III Whites for 142 with off-spinner Mohammad Ali capturing six for 21. However, the result didn’t hurt Zone-III Whites who made it to the last-four stage of the competition on a better net run-rate.

A fine knock of 74 from Wasihuddin inspired Zone-IV Blues to an emphatic 122-run defeat of Zone-VI Blues in another match played at the Nasir Hussain Young Fighter Ground.

ZONE-IV BLUES 219 in 50 overs (Wasihuddin 74, Asadullah 32, Sabahat Baig 29; Khurshid Shah 6-26, Umair Iqbal 3-48); ZONE-VI BLUES 97 in 26 overs (Abrar Warsi 36; Asadullah 3-6, Aamir Idrees 3-38).

Zone-II Whites beat Zone-VII Blues by seven wickets.

ZONE-VII BLUES 89 in 34.2 overs (Shiraz Hussain 4-20, Faazullah 4-40); ZONE-II WHITES 90-3 in 16.4 overs (Fahad Bukhari 27, Kashif Iqbal 25; Abdul Haseeb 2-28).

Zone-IV Greens beat Zone-VII Whites by six wickets.

ZONE-VII WHITES 136 in 28.2 overs (Hamza Javed 38, Ali Arshad 25; Mohammad Kashif 5-25, Abdul Basit 2-33); ZONE-IV GREENS 127-4 in 31.1 overs (Salman Raza 30, Umaid Ahmed 28, Atiq-ur-Rehman 22, Khawar Aziz 21).

Zone-I Blues beat Zone-III Greens by nine wickets.
