LAHORE, July 20: Law Minister Rana Sanaullah Khan called on Governor Sardar Latif Khosa at the Governor’s House here on Wednesday.

According to a Governor’s House spokesman, Khosa and Sanaullah discussed at length administrative matters, including the law and order situation in the province.

“The law minister briefed the governor about the current law and order situation and other issues, including appointment of vice chancellors to various universities,” the spokesman said.

However, a source in the Punjab government told Dawn the governor had ‘requested’ the law minister to stop targeting him in the media. The governor expressed his annoyance at Sanaullah’s personal attacks on him.

The source said Sanaullah agreed to ceasefire provided Khosa stopped targeting the PML-N leadership. Sanaullah complained as to why he (the governor) wrote a letter to the chief minister against him in the Babar Awan case.

According to a handout issued by Governor’s House, the governor said President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani promoted the policy of reconciliation to pull the country out of challenges and take along all political forces on national issues.

He said supremacy of law ensured protection of people’s rights and added that all political parties would have to set political interests aside to strengthen the institutions.

The governor urged all political forces to get together and adopt a common strategy for the prosperity of the province.

The law minister assured the governor that all administrative matters of the province would be run with mutual consultations. —Staff Reporter
