LAHORE, Jan 13: People from various walks of life, including sitting and former superior courts judges, lawyers and political figures, gathered at Masjid Ground of Phase-V, Askari Villas, on Thursday and attended the recitation of the Holy Quran and Dua for the parents of Justice Javed Iqbal.

The noted personalities who attended the ceremony included Justice Sayed Zahid Husain and Justice Sair Ali of the SC, former SC judges, including Justice Khalilur Rehman Khan and Justice Tanvir Ahmad Khan, Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry, former LHC chief justice Khwaja Sharif, Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed, Justice Umar Ata Bandial, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Justice Abdul Rehman Ansari, Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik and Justice Mansoor Ali Shah of the LHC, LHC registrar Abdul Sattar Asghar, senior lawyers, including Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, Dr Khalid Ranjha and Dr. Abdul Basit, Punjab advocate-general Khawaja Haris, former Jamaat-i-Islami amir Qazi Hussain Ahmad, former foreign minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, federal law minister Babar Awan, federal minister for Kashmir affairs Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo and federal law secretary Pir Masood Chishti.

PPP information secretary Fauzia Wahab and an MQM delegation led by Dr Ghaffar also expressed condolences over the murder of Justice Iqbal’s parents.
