RAWALPINDI: Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema on Tuesday asked the administration of Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital Raja Bazaar to improve cleanliness and patient care services as the Punjab government will not tolerate any negligence in this regard.

He also directed the administration to improve services in the emergency department, arrange adequate seating for patients’ attendants in shaded areas, and ensure that the water coolers are properly maintained.

He gave these instructions during his visit to the hospital where he conducted a detailed inspection of various departments including the emergency.

On this occasion, he reviewed the medical facilities provided to the patients in the hospital, ensure cleanliness, availability of medicines and performance of the staff. During the visit, the deputy commissioner met patients undergoing treatment in the emergency ward and their relatives and inquired about the facilities provided in the hospital, treatment and attitude of the staff.

He carefully heard the problems and suggestions of the patients and issued necessary instructions to the authorities concerned for immediate improvement.

The medical superintendent (MS) of the DHQ Hospital gave a detailed briefing to the deputy commissioner about various departments of the hospital, number of patients, medical facilities and ongoing administrative measures.

Dr Cheema directed that the provision of quality and timely medical facilities to the public should be ensured at all costs and that patients visiting the hospital should not face any kind of difficulty.

He said as per the instructions of the Punjab government, all possible steps were being taken to further improve the quality of medical services in government hospitals and facilitate patients, while the administration was continuously monitoring the performance of the hospitals so that the public could get the best medical facilities.
