JERUSALEM: Israel threatened today [July 30] to ban all UN and other organised international activities on its soil should it be excluded or suspended from the world organisation. On Israeli television, Foreign Minister Yiga Allon said not only would all UN activities in his country be halted, but also all efforts by international organisations toward a Middle East settlement. He said if Israel’s accreditation were not fully recognised at the coming General Assembly, he would recommend to the Israeli Government measures involving an end to the Geneva Middle East Peace Conference, and UN aid to Arab refugees in Israeli-occupied territories. His demands would include closure of the UN representation in Jerusalem, Allon said. — News agencies

[News agencies add from Washington,] a resolution urging the United States to consider withdrawing from the [UN] General Assembly if Israel is expelled will be introduced soon in the House of Representatives, House Democrat leader Thomas O’Neill said. … Mr. O’Neill … said 59 Congressmen had so far signed the resolution. … [He] said the resolution was prompted by Israel’s exclusion from the [UN] Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
