SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A man was killed when he resisted a robbery attempt in the Old Servekai area of Upper South Waziristan district on Wednesday night.

The police said robbers opened fire after facing resistance from the locals, resulting in the on-the-spot death of a man, identified as Latif Mehsud.

Following the incident, district police officer Arshad Khan directed SHO Servekai police station Kamran Khan to immediately reach the crime scene along with a contingent. Police cordoned off the area and set up multiple checkpoints in a bid to trace the culprits.

While fleeing, the robbers also opened fire on police near Mola Khan Sarai Bazaar. However, the police retaliated effectively, forcing assailants to flee into the nearby Shahoor forests.

Police recovered a suspicious motorcycle near the crime scene. Local residents expressed outrage over the incident, urging the authorities to arrest the perpetrators without delay and ensure strict punishment to deter future occurrences.
