STORMWATER DRAINAGE ISSUE: Recently, I happened to visit the storm-water drainage underpass beneath Nazimuddin Road, and was alarmed to find that the drainage has been reduced to less than a quarter of its original capacity, and is heavily obstructed by debris. Right above the underpass, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has constructed a large retaining wall, and converted the area into a green space, which is now enclosed by a neighbouring resident. This enclosure includes a private zoo and servant quarters. Additionally, both the CDA and local residents have further narrowed the adjacent drain, reducing the flow of water during heavy rain. Urgent action is required to restore the original capacity of the stormwater drainage system.

WHATSAPP CHANNEL: K-Electric’s self-service WhatsApp channel has totally failed to assist its customers. Whenever our area experiences any technical issue, such as supply disruption, phase failure, or low voltage, I try to register a complaint through WhatsApp, but have never succeeded. Similarly, if a customer tries to approach KE office in Hub through a phone call, there is never anyone there at the other end to receive the call. Consequently, the customers are forced to visit the KE office in person to register a complaint. This is neither feasible nor safe due to street crimes, especially at night. The authorities should pay immediate attention to the issue.

URDU GOES GLOBAL: The United Nations has officially included Urdu among 27 languages that are part of its multilingual expansion initiative. Previously, the UN General Assembly documents were available only in six languages, but now that are available in all these 27 languages, including Urdu. This inclusion of Urdu is recognition of its cultural richness and global reach. It is a diplomatic victory for Pakistan. Urdu is no more just a national language, it is a global voice.
