SUKKUR: Two youths, stated to be job seekers, were found dumped on a road with their throats slit, officials at the C-Section police of Thull taluka in Jacobabad district said on Saturday.

It transpired later that the victims were brought to Jummo Dakhan village from Punjab by a man who had promised to get them jobs.

According to the police, residents of the village reported the matter after seeing the “chained youths” lying in a pool of blood. A police party rushed to the area and transported the victims to the Thull Taluka Hospital for treatment. However, one of them, Zahid Javed, 20, a resident of Chakwal, was declared dead on arrival.

The other youth, Salman Ahmed, 25, a resident of Multan, was provided emergency treatment and then referred to the Chandka Medical College Hospital, Larkana, due to his precarious condition. Zahid’s family arrived the Thull hospital after receiving information about the tragic incident from police.

His father told the police and local journalists that he was a street vendor and had his livelihood in Karachi. He stated that a man, Mohammed Ali, used to frequent him for some days and offered help in getting Zahid a job in Jacobabad. He said his son and his friend Salman Ahmed were to be taken to Jacobabad by Mohammed Ali, who must have conspired to kill both the youths on the way.

Zahid’s body was handed over to his family after necessary legal formalities.

He said Mohammed Ali had first taken Zahid, and probably Salman too, to Sukkur as they had talked to Zahid on Friday over phone. He said he believed his son might have been killed by Mohammed Ali late Friday night.

According to the police, this was not the first incident of this kind in Thull. “Five such incidents had already been reported from this area in the recent weeks,” they said.

The police said they would register a case if the affected families chose to lodge an FIR.
