ISLAMABAD: A 22-year-old youth was swept away by rainwater in Korang Nullah when he attempted to cross it on Wednesday following heavy rain, police said.

The whereabouts of the man were not known till the filing of the report.

He was identified as Mohammad Mohsin, 22, the son of a retired army official.

Mohsin worked at a call centre located in the Gulberg Green area.

He met with the accident while returning home on a motorcycle from the office, police said.

On his way home, he reached Korang Nullah at Sharifabad, which was overflowing and the water level had risen up to the bridge.

Motorists were waiting at both ends of the nullah for the water level to decrease. However, he attempted to cross the bridge, and as a result, a gush of water swept him and his motorcycle away.

Police and rescue teams were informed about the incident.

After receiving the information, they arrived at the scene and conducted a search, which led to the recovery of the motorcycle.
